Room Garden
I have summarised 10 essential things you need to know when buying a garden room or home office from a UK manufacturer or supplier. Below are the vital things to consider prior to making a purchase, as obviously whenever buying a new garden office, room, building etc you want to ensure you are getting value for money and making the right purchase, for the right reasons. These tips are universal, as they apply whether you are buying a contemporary modern garden-room or an eco-friendly garden office, whatever the garden building or living space.
Here are a list of 10 keys things you need to consider:
1. Decide what function your new garden living space will be used for – and ensure that the design can meet these requirements. If it is going to be a garden office then you may require a garden room manufacturer that offers more electrics and good natural lighting options. Although I would advise not too much light if using computer screens or displays, as these can be a little sensitive to too much natural light.
If it is a gym or hot tub enclosure you want, then you will naturally require good ventilation. As a home cinema you may require excellent acoustics and sound proofing. As a granny annex or guest bedroom you would require excellent insulation, you may even wish to feature an en-suite shower or bathroom. Fortunately many garden building manufacturers offer these options. Also bear in mind whether you will need certain internal features such as cable TV, taps, toilet facilities, maybe even a bedroom. With regards to flooring consider whether you require laminate flooring, solid oak or perhaps even a carpeted finish… As you can see there is plenty to think about. Before making that purchase be 100% sure the design can match your requirements.
Room Designs
Billiards is a classic game that has been played in some form or another for centuries. It’s a game for people of all ages, and today is being played in pool halls across the country. The popular trend however, is for people to get out of the pool halls in exchange for playing billiards in their own homes! This dream can become a reality for you as well, once you design your own billiard room.
Spacing and Billiard Table Selection
The first step in designing your billiard room is figuring out how much space you’ll need. An adult or regulation size pool table is 9 feet long, and a smaller, child’s table will be about 7 feet long. Tables are also made in all sizes in between, so if space is an issue for you, you should be able to find one around 8 feet. You should also consider how much room the shooter will need. A good idea is to give an adult shooter 4-6 feet of space around the table, and 3-5 feet for children. Once you have an idea of the size of your billiard table, you can pick one out. If you plan on keeping your table for a long time, the best idea is to buy one with a solid wood frame, and solid wood sub-rails. You should also take note of the “live gum rubber” percentage of the rail cushion. A higher percentage is equivalent to better quality.
Decorating
The next step in designing your billiard room is decorating. A popular first step in decorating is billiard lamps. Billiard lamps come in all shapes and colors, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding one that is suitable to your tastes, and the color scheme of your billiard room. Billiard lamps are fairly easy to install yourself, but you may need some small tools such as a screwdriver or pliers. An old-fashioned juke box is a popular alternative to a big stereo system; however, the popular trend is for music to be played in the form of mp3s. A stereo with mp3 capabilities is probably a good investment, if music in your billiard room is important to you. Surround sound speakers are another popular choice for billiard rooms, as they aren’t too expensive and can be installed simply with the use of an instruction manual. Popular wall hangings for billiard rooms can be found at any home decorating store and at online billiards stores. You will also need a place to put your pool cues when they are not in use. Wall-hanging cue racks are popular in billiard rooms, as are cue racks that sit on the floor.
Bathroom Planning
Until recently, more attention was given to the living rooms or kitchen in house design, as these traditionally serve a much more social function than the bathroom. Yet the very purpose of the bathroom means that it should be one of the most appealing rooms in your house - being a place to get ready for the day ahead, or to relax in after a stressful one. This means that it should not be a cold and badly decorated room, but instead a warm and luxurious haven within your house. Sometimes it will not take much to change your bathroom into such an inviting place; a simple change of colour, and perhaps the addition of a large mirror, the right heating and lighting can make it perfect without having to completely renovate the room. If a larger overhaul is needed, then make sure that you take the right steps to create a bathroom that is both practical and appealing.
First try looking around various shops and also utilise the internet, as this will help you to decide upon a design that you like. Keep in mind things such as the tile or paint colour you may wish to use for the room, and how this might affect your choice of suite, as well as thinking about the different finishes that you’d like to incorporate.
If you decide to go for a new suite, then think carefully about the choices that you make - here you have an opportunity to get everything perfect within the room, and if you make the proper plans then the end result should be very satisfying.
Bedroom Planning
Contemporary Bedroom Furniture: Planning a Bed
Don't let your bed be an afterthought. Your bed will be the most prominent object in your room, so it has to go with your bedroom's theme, color-wise, size-wise, and style-wise. A huge bed in a small room will likely look out of place, as would a four-post bed in a room with sleek modern furnishings.
Bed Sizes
The most popular bed sizes are king, queen, twin and the increasingly popular California king. A California king is narrow and long, rather than the traditional king bed's square shape. Just make sure you have the exact dimensions of your bed before you go mattress shopping, since bed manufacturers sometimes don't follow the standard bed sizes exactly.
Bed Styles
Don’t confuse bed sizes with bed styles. Bed styles refer to the headboard and footboard. The basis of any bed is still the mattress and frame, which only vary outwardly in terms of the sizes listed above.
• Daybed. Daybeds are twin beds. What makes them special is that they can double as couches if you position them against a wall. Being compact and versatile, daybeds are great for small spaces.
• Platform. Platform beds are elegantly simple, fitting in with just about any style of decor.
• Sleigh bed. Sleigh beds have curved headboards and foot boards that look like, well…a sleigh. There are simpler and more modern sleigh bed designs, so you can get one even if you are going for a more modern-looking room.
